Hon. Graham Watson Leader of the ALDE Liberal Group in the European Parliament visited Malta and met me and my delegation. Filmed by myself (John Zammit) it shows part of a discussion we had with him about the non-democratic situation we have in Malta that we do not have a divorce law and no abortion can be made in Malta because those who do it will be imprisoned.

Yes David, As I founded the Liberal Party of Malta in 2006 after I left the Malta Labour Party after I had some clashes with them, I invited the Hon. Graham Watson for a courtesy visit to Malta and he came in October 2007. He met me as leader of Alleanza Liberali (the name in Maltese for the Liberal Party), the Prime Minister of Malta who is from the Nationalist Conservative Party and the Leader of the Malta Labour Party.

In fact what there is in the video is part of a conversation we had with him about Malta's undemocratic situation because we do not have divorce and abortion rights. As we were using for the first time our new digital camera we had problems and in fact when I spoke it was not recording and there you can see our general secretary speeking (also small part) the others were the deputy leader and the Women's Section President who can be seen in the meeting. Meanwhile Graham Watson was accompanied by his secretary and the European Parliament Representative in Malta. You can also visit our website on: www.freewebs.com/liberalalliance and our interactive tv station: http://worldtv.com/alleanza_liberali_malta were there are several speeches I made in Maltese but there are some in English also. I have been to the European Journalism Centre in Brussels lately and if you or any other journalists intend to visit Malta I am one of the founder members of the Malta Press Club which today changed its name to Institute of Maltese Journalists and I have got my office at Valletta, capital city of Malta.

Graham,

as the the head of training for the Thomson Foundation, who, alongside the European Journalism Centre, host this webiste, I would like to know a little bit more as what was going on during this video recording. It seems most interesting and relevant to out ENPI mandate, but could do with a little more context.

In general the video posting is mainly for those who have been on our training sessions.

My best
