ENJN Closing Conference Website
On 10 and 11 October 2011, the ENJN will be hosting its Closing Conference “Media Futures – Policy, Politics and Power”. More than 200 senior journalists working on European and international affairs along with editor-in-chiefs of major news outlets in the ENPI region will be brought together in Brussels to discuss the recent developments in the ENP region and media related topics including:
- Future of journalism: media policy and democratic legitimacy
- Press freedom: the effectiveness of current regulatory policies and instruments
- Social media and 2011 revolutions: reshaping world politics
- Discussing the business of news: how to monetise social media
- Global communications, development and transition
- Revised European Neighbourhood Policy
The event is shaping up to be the opportunity of the year as it calls for an active discussion regarding the rapidly changing media landscape and EU policies in light of the fundamental changes happening in the EU’s neighbourhood.
This international conference will be chaired by BBC Journalist and Broadcaster, Samira Ahmed, and will feature a cornucopia of top level speakers from the European Commission, the BBC, The Economist, Gazeta Wyborcza, the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, Oxford University, Centre for European Policy Studies, Global Voices, The Guardian, RIA Novosti and many more.
