YOUNG PEOPLE NOT SCARED OF POLICE
BAKU/30.04.10/TURAN: Over hundred of young people have been detained by policemen near the Oil Academy for staging the unauthorized protest action. Turan’s correspondent reported that while policemen detain one group of young people and push them in the buses, another group of demonstrators with posters shows up and starts scanning.
The action started on the Jabbarly square in front of the 28 May subway station at about 1.00 p.m. Police has blocked the subway station exits.
Education Minister Misir Mardanov has arrived to the Oil Academy.
Despite the police pressure, the young people were not scared to stage the demonstration. “We are not afraid of arrests and pressure. We came here to commemorate our friends killed on April 30, 2009. Those who disturb our plans are also terrorists,” one of the demonstrators told Turan’s correspondent.
On April 30, 2009 in the morning native of Georgia Farda Gadirov opened fire in the Academy. He killed 12 and wounded 13 people and then shot himself dead.-0-
