One day on the region having 60 years conflict
Tension on relations between Washington and Tel-Aviv still continue. U.S. president Barack Obama demanded that Israel state had to stop building settlements at the West Bank of Jordon river and this demanding was like “cold shower effect” for Israel state. Some experts think that such kind of tension in 40 years relation between U.S and Israel can be useful for EU being more active in this region. This opinion makes sense, at least EU has activity in this region and both conflict sides trust EU. The last week some group of journalists from Azerbaijan were in Israel state and Palestine Autonomy by the EU program. The travel to the Middle East gave chance to the journalists to be closer to the 60 years conflict and to understood this conflict more clearly. In this article we are going to look at Middle East conflict-the main cause of all challenges and we will try to show possible solutions of this conflict. In this article we will introduce both officials and ordinary peoples opinion and you will see how the conflict impact to the life of ordinary people.
Now EU is one of the major international organization which has serious effort solving this conflict. First of first we decided to know if EU has real power to help solution of the conflict in the Middle East. EU officials in both sides think that they do their observer missions in the region successfully.
EU supports U.S…
Head of EU delegation in Israel state Andrew Standley said that the aid for Palestine Autonomy was 1 milliard euro in the last three years. The half part of this amount belongs to the EU as a direct aid and the other part is given by the countries which are member of EU. The main aim is helping to develop forming state instituties in Palestine Autonomy. EU also helps to develop the level of the health issue and education system: “Both sides are accepted our role in solution of this conflict. We thinks so that without third side this conflict wouldn’t be able to solve at all. But in this region U.S still has main role and a lot of things depend on the U.S opinion to this conflict. It has strong influence. And EU support the power of U.S in this region”. In this case such kind of question comes on: “Would be it better to stop the EU activity in this region and leaving it to U.S?” Head of EU delegation in Israel state Andrew Standley answers to this question: “We have concrete responsibilities on this issue and we insist on realization of it”.
After 2011 the Palestine can be independent.

But before declaring independence there are some issues that should be solved and of course it depends on Israel: “The statement signed in 1999 year was based on establishing Palestine state. Bu still now this agreement isn’t realized. The international organizations help to Palestine administration forming the important structures. But that is not enough. Because, now the situation in Gaza strip is quite difficult. Now Gaza strip is under power of “Hamas” which is known as terrorist group by EU. Despite of all the main responsibility on solving this conflict has to has Israel state. Israel state must help solving three issues for solution of this conflict. First of the first the borders must be back to the territory which were before the war in 1967. The status quo between Jordan and Israel must be rebuilt. The second issue Israel state must agree with its special status on Jerusalem. The third, but more important thing is the 700 Palestinian refugees problem must be solved”. C.Berger told that the most state structures will be activated by EU till the year 2011 and after this EU is going to pay more attention to international public situation. If Palestine ready for independence, then it is possible that there can be declared their independence following up the next year. C. Berger talks about this: “If Israel state wants to expand relation between EU, so the government must support the idea of establishing Palestine state and must recognize the responsibility to peace process in the Middle East”.
“My people want to be independent”
The ordinary people and public figures opinion about process going on the Middle East has contrast instead of looks like easy. For example, the engineer Ali Abdulqadir thinks that, the reason making difficult these process is U.S directly support the Israel state. He thinks so that without supporting U.S to Israel state, it is possible that EU can achive some solution between two sides and find solution of this conflict. He noticed that the conflict is mixed up in this region and now Palestine people live as under occupation: “Israel state was established in the territory of Palestine historical places. They have limited our fundamental rights. Because of Palestine is under occupation it depends on totaly international aids. I call to all international public and EU to make Israel to follow up its responsibility which gave promise. My people want to be free, independent. Only after being independent and out of blockade we can stand on our foot strongly”.
The international coordinator of the international Law project of İr Amim NGO Ehud Uziel told that the palestines living in Jerusalem have the same rights as israelines have. Just they don’t have any right to give their vote to the Knesset. E.Uziel noticed that 40 years ago Israel government gave them this right, but they refused to have this right: “ Now Israel state wouldn’t like to give them such kind of right. Palestines could participate in the election to municipality in Jerusalem (Israelines and Christians call Guds as Jerusalem-editor), but they also refused having such kind of right. There are 750 thousand people in Jerusalem. In The East Jerusalem there live 250 thousand palestines and 200 thousand jews. Our organization is agree with dividing Jerusalem between Palestine and Israel state. The main thing is having peace in the Middle East. 40-45% of jews living in Jerusalem agree with this idea. 15% of them deny this idea because of ideological approach. The rest of jews deny this idea because of security issue”. E.Uziel said that now most of palestines move to West Bank, because in the East Jerusalem they dont have any right to built the house more than one floor.
Sderot, battle-front for israelines.
There is no doubt that the worst impact of the conflict between Isarel-Palestine is to ordinary people. You can feel the damage of this conflict through their eyes. We are talking about people living in Sderot, the city which has 5 square meter distance from Gaza strip. And this is the one of the Israel state city which the most bombing. Palestines think so that this city was belong to them. But now there were populated jews from Russia, Irak, Iran and North Africa in 1951. From the beginning of the 90th years in Sderot city were populated jews families from Ukraine, Caucasus and Georgia. On that years in this city there were 10 thousand people, but now its population is 23 thousand. The Israel government was built new houses, districts and fabrics in this city. The deputy head of the city Shalom Alevi says that the main challenge is lack of security: “From 2001 we faced with rocket attackes from Gaza strip. During 2004-2008 in the result of bombing here were killed 10 people, thousands of settlements were injured. The rocket attacktion was destroyed over than 1200 buildings. Till now there were more than 8 thousand rocket attacks”.
Shalom Alevi noticed that even after operation of Israel state in Gaza strip there wasn’t stopped the rocket attacks. And after this operation Sderot city faced more than 400 rocket attacks from Gaza strip. The city continue its ordinary, simple daily life-people go to school, work, go to see their relatives. Despate of all people living here know exactly that after boming alert they have just 15 minute to escape. In this city for defending from such kind of attacks there are 40 public shelter and more than 1500 “security rooms” inside the houses of people. But it is so interesting, why people still continue to live there and they even don’t leave the city? Answering this question Shalom Alevi said that some of them moved to neighbour point of the city: “But we do some explanation amoung people. People living in Sderot move to other cities. We try to explain that these cities also under bombing and in this case you will have to go so far from here”.
61 years camp building for one year…
Now for palestines the more important things are establishing their independence and the future of the millions of refugees becaming homeless. One of the camp for refugees from the West Bank of Jordon gives some information about their hard life. From the situation here it is easy to know that the life here is not good. In the West ank there are 750 thousand Palestine refugees, they are living in 19 camps. The member of UNRWA Yousif Xashiani says that the refugees living in Amaari camp still have hope that one day they will return back to their lands. This UN Agency helps to them on health and education issues. The young people get education in this camp, but they hve limited chance to continue their education, to get high education, because they don’t have any possibility to pay for education. Yousif Xashiani says that one of the iggest problem of this people is about flat. This camp is 22 ha. And it has 6500 refugees. So sometime the families with 10 or 20 members have to live in the little houses. The distance amoung houses is very short and the children cant find any place for playing something. The main problem here is people don’t have any job, work. Most of time young people faces with this problem.

But 60 years were passed. Every refuges from different countries has common rights that they can stay here, they can go back to his home or moving to the other country”.

The prime minister of Palestine Autonomy Salam Fayyad talkes about the situation in the Middle East. The prime minister gave some information about their activity to the journalists on the meeting in Ramallah city : “Palestines will countine their struggle with enemies in peace way. International unity also support this idea. Sometimes there is shooting from Israel side, but we continue our struggle”. Salam Fayyad added that palestines wanted to live in peace and after establishing their independent state they are going to have relation with the countries in the world, also with Isarel state: “But our state cant be developed under occupation. For normal developing we need to be independent. We value in a high level the support of EU and international public organizations. So with their helping we can build structures of the future Palestine sate. But for solution of this conflict there is a need of EU and international support”.
